Relatability to Lawyers in Recovery
Recovery from SUD is a profoundly life altering undertaking. It is difficult. The vast majority of people who have tried to quit and continue to fail, benefit greatly from supportive communities of similarly situated people.
Studies have shown that lawyers have greater recovery success when engaged with other lawyers in recovery. Seeing others like us recover gives a great sense of hope. We come to believe that If we follow the lead of those who have gone before and found long-term remission, that we too can recover. Addiction is very much a disease of lost hope. Seeing others succeed provides faith. This paradigm of faith and hope that things will get getter sustains us in the crucial early stages of recovery when our bodies are adjusting, our dopamine pathways recovering, and our other neurotransmitters becoming balanced.
It is exceptionally beneficial to have recovery mentors who can provide guidance and advise in dealing with the pressures and unique issues that face lawyers in recovery.
Vivon works diligently with local lawyers assistance programs, and other resources, to ensure that our recovery clients have a group of recovering lawyers they can turn to for support.
